UCC bill- Everything explained by the POV of an 18 year old
@ ONE NATION ONE LAW
UCC is basically a set of rules that when implemented would bring all the civil cases like marriage, adoption, divorce, etc of each and every religion practiced within country under the same set of rules i.e. the judgement of the civil court would no longer be based on the idea of the religion to which the accuser belong. Till now for every religion we follow a separate set of rules for example Hindus are allowed to have a single wife at once while islam allows upto 4 wives at a time! After the implementation of UCC there would be a common law for all the cases like these.
A majority of the non-hindu population especially people practicing islam are opposing this because they feel this is against secularism and prevent them from practicing their religion. But, non-hindu women are seen to be loving this law code, even though silently. As they feel it would make their life more free, easy and reduce the fear from the male dominating society just like the collision og TEEN TALAKH drew a wave of relief amongst them.
If I talk about my opinion I greatly feel that this code would promote equality and would not interfere with the religion of a person as they would be allowed to practice their religious beliefs in all other ways possible. The laws would not be supporting hindu reeti reewaz, instedly they would be made by keeping an eye on all the religions just as developed countries like UK and USA have successfully made such laws.
Himachal Pradesh is going to be the first state of India to successfully implement UCC i.e. a great step towards secularism.
